Village Banking

What is Village Banking?

Village Banking is a way for people who know and trust each other — friends, coworkers, or family — to save and borrow money together without a traditional bank. Members contribute to a shared pool, take out loans, and share the interest earned.

What are the benefits of Village Banking?

It's flexible, community-driven, and built on trust. You get access to savings and credit without relying on banks or expensive lenders — just your group.

How do I create a group?

Log in and tap Create Group under the Savings icon. Set your group name and rules, then invite members. The creator becomes the admin, and the system generates a group code on creation. Share that code with members so they can join.

How do I invite others to join?

The admin shares the system-generated group code; members use it to join. Note: all members must be Bevura account holders.

How many people can be in a group?

A single group can have up to 50 members. Your group constitution can set a lower number if you prefer.

Can I be in more than one group?

Yes — you can belong to more than one group.

How do I make contributions to Village Banking?

Open your Village Banking group, tap Make Contributions, and contribute to an open window.

How do I request a loan?

Tap Request Loan under Quick Actions. The loan platform opens, where you submit your loan request.

Loan & Transaction Features

How often can I transact (save, borrow, repay)?

As often as your group allows — the app lets you transact whenever. Most groups run weekly or monthly.

How much can I borrow?

It depends on your group balance and rules. Your loan entitlement is a multiple of your current balance at the time of borrowing, and that multiple is set in your group rules.

Can I take multiple loans?

No. You can only have one loan running at a time.

When do I repay my loan?

Your group sets the repayment dates. The app then generates a schedule of equal instalments and sends reminders before each due date.

What happens if someone defaults?

Penalties are set by the group at creation. Bevura tracks loan repayments and notifies the group of defaults.

Are loans instant?

If you qualify and the admin approves your loan, the funds are placed in your Bevura wallet instantly.
