Open your wallet in six steps.
Signing up happens entirely in the app — there is no branch to visit and no forms to print. Have your ID and an active Zambian mobile number with you and the whole thing takes a few minutes.
What to have ready
- An active Zambian mobile number that can receive an SMS. We recommend the one linked to your mobile money — it makes funding your wallet easier.
- One valid ID: your National Registration Card (NRC), passport, or driver's licence — and the number on it. For an NRC you will photograph both the front and the back.
- You must be 16 or older.
- Your date of birth, province, district, and street address.
- A few minutes, decent light for the photos, and enough signal to stay connected.
Step by step

Download Bevura
Get the app free from Google Play or the App Store, then tap Sign Up on the welcome screen. Bevura is available anywhere in Zambia.
- Works on both Android and iPhone.
- Signing up as an individual is all you need — groups come later, inside the app.

Verify your number
Enter your Zambian mobile number and we text you a six-digit code. On Android it usually fills itself in.
- Zambian numbers only — nine digits after +260.
- The code stays valid for about five minutes, and you can ask for a fresh one after five minutes if it does not arrive.
- Standard SMS rates may apply.

Tell us about you
Your first and last name exactly as they appear on your ID, then your date of birth, gender, province, district, and street address.
- Matching your ID exactly here is what keeps step 05 smooth.
- Other names, an email address, and a referral code are all optional.
- Provinces and districts are picked from a list, so there is nothing to spell.

Check it over, then set your PIN
Everything you entered is shown on one screen to review. When it looks right, create a four-digit PIN and accept the Terms and Privacy Policy.
- You can go back and edit any detail before submitting.
- Your PIN secures the account and authorises payments — choose something you will not forget, and keep it to yourself.

Verify your identity
Photograph your ID and take a selfie, both inside the app. The camera guides you into position and takes the shot itself once the document is readable.
- Choose one: NRC, passport, or driver's licence. For an NRC, both the front and the back are needed.
- You will type the number from the document as well — an NRC in the form 123456/78/9.
- Photos are taken with the camera in the app; there is no upload from your gallery.
- Your document is read on your phone, not sent to any third party for scanning.

We check, then you are away
Your documents go to the Bevura team to be checked. The app shows Pending approval while that happens, and you will be notified once you are approved. Then you can send, receive, pay bills, and get cash — the whole wallet.
- Each check is done by a person, so it is not instant.
- If something needs redoing, the app tells you which document to submit again.
Getting approved first time
The checks in step 05 are quick to pass when the basics are right. Five things worth getting exactly right:
- Type your names exactly as they are printed on your ID — including the order and spelling.
- For an NRC, photograph both sides. Front only is not enough.
- Enter an NRC number in the form 123456/78/9.
- Get the whole document inside the frame with the text readable. The camera will not fire until it can read the card.
- For the selfie: just you in the picture, eyes open, head straight, and nothing covering your face.
You can look around first
Verification is not a wall at the door. You can finish signing up, go into your wallet, and find your way around before you upload anything. Verifying is what opens up sending, receiving, and paying — so most people do it straight away and get it out of the way.
