Know your limits.
Every Bevura wallet has limits on how much you can move and how much you can hold. They exist to keep your money safe and to meet Bank of Zambia directives. This page explains what each limit means — and where to find the exact figures that apply to you.
Your limits are in the app
Bevura does not publish one set of figures for everybody, because limits depend on your wallet type. Yours are in the app, and they are always current:
-
On your profile
Open Profile and look at the wallet card at the top. It shows your wallet tier alongside your daily limit, your per-transaction limit and your holding limit.
The four limits on a wallet
Bevura models four separate limits. They do different jobs, and it is worth knowing which one you have reached.
-
Daily transaction limit
The most you can move out of your wallet in a single day, added up across every payment you make. It resets each day.
-
Maximum transaction limit
The most you can move in one single payment. A transfer larger than this is refused even when your daily limit still has room, so a large amount may need to be split.
-
Maximum holding limit
The most your wallet can hold at any one time. Money coming in that would take you past it cannot be received until you spend, send or withdraw some of what you already hold.
-
Minimum balance
The amount that must stay in the wallet. Where it is zero, you are free to empty the wallet completely.
The tiers
Your limits are set by your wallet type — the tier your wallet is on. Every new wallet starts on Tier 1. A tier carries its own set of the four limits above, along with what the wallet is allowed to do: take money in, pay money out, and whether it may go overdrawn. No Bevura wallet can go overdrawn.
| Tier | Daily limit | Per transaction | Holding limit | Minimum balance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1Copper | K20,000 | K10,000 | K100,000 | None |
| Individual Tier 1 | ||||
| Tier 2Bronze | K100,000 | K50,000 | K500,000 | None |
| Individual Tier 2 | ||||
Amounts are Zambian kwacha. Every wallet starts on Tier 1. Your own wallet card in the app always shows the limits that apply to you, and those are the ones that count.
Verification comes first
A wallet is activated once your identity has been verified — your Zambian mobile number, your details, and a national ID, passport or driver's licence with a selfie to confirm the document is yours. Until that check is approved, the wallet cannot move money at all.
Why limits exist
Limits are a requirement of operating a mobile-money wallet in Zambia, not a Bevura invention. Yafika Mobile Money Limited is licensed by the Bank of Zambia under licence 06/PSB/2024, and transaction and daily limits apply in line with Bank of Zambia directives. Bevura also monitors transactions for activity that looks suspicious under anti-money-laundering rules, and may delay or hold one while it is checked.
If a payment is refused
A refused payment is usually a limit rather than a fault. Check the wallet card on your profile against what you are trying to send: the amount may be over your per-transaction limit, or the day may already have used up your daily limit. If neither explains it, contact support and we will look at the wallet with you.
